Now in its 14th year, Room 204 supports emerging writers from across the West Midlands through a year-long programme of workshops, mentorship, and training. The scheme, which began in 2012, has now welcomed over 220 writers working across genres including poetry, fiction, screenwriting, and narrative non-fiction.
Louise is one of 15 writers chosen for the 2025 cohort from a wide field of applicants. Her acceptance into Room 204 is a significant achievement and a testament to her talent and commitment to developing her craft. She joined fellow new members for the programme’s launch meeting on Saturday 19 April 2025 at the Writing West Midlands offices in Birmingham. There, the group met programme staff, including Chief Executive Jonathan Davidson, and learned more about the opportunities that lie ahead.
Over the next year, Louise will take part in workshops, one-to-one mentoring sessions, and networking events designed to support her personal and professional development as a writer. The Room 204 community, which continues to grow beyond the initial year of participation, offers lasting support and collaboration among writers from a range of backgrounds and disciplines.
Everyone at Oswestry School sends warm congratulations to Louise on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to following her creative journey.
