We are sad to announce the death of Ian Wood (1959-67) at the age of 75.

Ian died last week in Chester at the age of 75. He had been ill for some time with Parkinson’s and leaves his wife Sue, three daughters and three grandchildren. His funeral will be at Blacon, Chester on 17th June.

Ian was at Oswestry from 1959-1967 and was an outstanding sportsman as well as a good scholar who became a Chartered Accountant and was a Finance Director for many years.

Ian captained both the school football and cricket teams, played football for Shropshire schools and represented Shropshire in the 1967 All England Schools Athletics Championships in both Long Jump  and 100 metres.
