Reunion |
1980's OOs |
The day began at 2pm with a welcome reception in the School Chapel, where old friends gathered under familiar arches to reconnect and reflect on shared memories. From there, current School Prefects led guided tours, offering returning alumni a glimpse of how the School has grown and changed—while also sparking plenty of reminiscing along the way.
Later in the afternoon guests made their way to the Refectory Terrace where a relaxed pulled-pork supper and drinks were served in the glorious sunlight. It was here that speeches were delivered by Old Oswestrian Society President Jason Payne, Chair Dan Munford, and Headmaster Peter Middleton, who each spoke warmly about the strength of the Oswestry School community—past, present, and future.
In a brilliant nod to the global reach of our alumni, a live stream from the Terrace to Hong Kong was arranged by staff member Ian Carr, allowing international OOs to join in the occasion virtually. The streaming equipment, generously co-funded by the Old Oswestrian Society, will also be used to benefit current pupils in future School events and projects.
A special highlight of the day was a generous gift from Peter Lai, who kindly provided every attendee with a delightful Oswestry School branded teddy towel—a thoughtful and much-appreciated memento that added a personal touch to the day.
A special thank you goes to all those who contributed to the success of the day. In particular, Sue Leonard deserves heartfelt recognition for her personal, handwritten invitations to former teachers, many of whom attended and added a deeply meaningful touch to the celebration.
It was a day filled with laughter, reconnection, and gratitude—proof that the Oswestry spirit remains strong, no matter how many years have passed. We look forward to welcoming more alumni back in the years to come.
If you would like to arrange a reunion for your year group, please get in touch—we’d be delighted to help make it happen.
