Phoebe takes advantage of OO mentoring scheme

Old Oswestrian Phoebe Munford (2004-2020) recently benefited from the OO Society's Mentoring Programme.

Phoebe is a 3rd year law student at Nottingham Trent University. Over the summer Phoebe worked for Old Oswestrian Andrew Barkley (1980-89), His Majesty’s Coroner for North and South Staffordshire. Phoebe was put into contact with Andrew Barkley through the OO society and was able to organise a month-long work experience shadowing him and understanding his role.

In this video Phoebe thanks Andrew for his help and support. She also encourages other young Old Oswestrians to contact the Society to find out more. During her month-long work experience, Phoebe watched many inquests which had individual evidence and outcomes. Additionally, she had the opportunity to read evidence into the court record, allowing her to be a part of the court proceedings on a number of occasions and it was an incredibly interesting experience.

The Old Oswestrian Society would like to thank Andrew Barkley for his generosity and invite other Old Oswestrians to consider becoming involved in the programme. The OO Mentoring Programme is open to former Sixth Form pupils at Oswestry School.
