Oswestry florist Sionedd Hughes is set to return to school for the first time in more than four decades, and this time, she’ll be taking centre stage.

Sionedd, who left Oswestry School in 1984, will return on Friday 6 November to host a special evening of floral demonstrations at the newly opened Grove Theatre.

It will be Sionedd’s first visit back to the school since leaving as a pupil, and she is looking forward to making her comeback in very different surroundings. The Grove Theatre opened in September following a two-year, £1.5 million fundraising campaign to transform the school’s former Memorial Hall into a state-of-the-art performing arts centre.

The event has been organised by former Oswestry School member of staff Hilary Bull, a keen gardener, florist and member of Oswestry Flower Club. Hilary has known Sionedd since she was a schoolgirl and has followed her successful career ever since.

“I have been following Sionedd’s career since she left school,” said Hilary. “She is a fantastic florist and a wonderful entertainer. She will keep us entertained with her creative displays and her wonderful sense of humour. We are going to have a great night when she comes back to Oswestry School.”

Sionedd has built a successful career as a professional florist and entertainer, with her lively demonstrations taking her all over the UK. Her events combine creative floral displays with plenty of humour, making them popular with both keen gardeners and those simply looking for an entertaining evening.

The evening is suitable for flower enthusiasts of all abilities, from experienced florists and gardeners to anyone who simply enjoys beautiful flowers and a good night out.

And for Sionedd, the event promises to be a rather special homecoming.

“I haven’t been back to school since 1984!” she admits.

Tickets are now available and are expected to be popular.
